Why Viewpoints, Why Now?
We think viewpoint diversity is both interesting and essential. It’s also a bit rare these days, especially in Canada. Established media (mainstream media, legacy press) has lost its way. Journalists seem to have shifted from the goal of neutral coverage to being activists determined to shape society (and reality) to something they think it should be. They have lost touch and have started echoing the same talking points in unison. We at Viewpoints want to counter that trend and air conversations with people who have heterodox ideas about the issues of the day, who think for themselves and who are brave enough to go against the orthodoxy.
It’s the kind of podcast we would want to listen to, and we hope you feel the same way, too!
Viewpoints is produced and hosted by Sean Rasmussen. Sean has a B.A. in Philosophy and has worked in digital media since the early days of the Internet. Sean has increasingly been involved in podcast production for his clients.
Politically, Sean considers himself rather centrist — although in our current political climate the “center” has shifted so far to the left that ‘centrist’ has lost its meaning. For that reason he describes his political bent as “classical liberalism”.
